SuaraSi.Com, Jakarta – Syarikat Islam atau Sarekat Islam (SI) merupakan salah satu organisasi tertua yang pernah lahir di Indonesia. Organisasi yang didirikan Samanhudi tahun 1905 dengan nama awal Sarekat Dagang Islam (SDI) itu disebut pelopor pergerakan nasional paling awal sebelum lahir Budi Utomo. Dalam perjalanannya, organisasi yang mulanya perkumpulan pedagang-pedagang Islam yang menentang politik kolonial ini bermetamorforsis menjadi gerakan politik dengan nama Partai Syarikat Islam Indonesia (PSSI).
Sarekat Islam menjelma menjadi partai besar yang memiliki banyak tokoh sejarawan semisal Haji Agus Salim, HOS Tjokroaminoto, Abdul Muis, hingga Mohammad Roem.
Sampai tahun 1970an, setelah melewati masa panjang perjuangan, kiprah PSSI di kancah politik kian memudar. PSSI belakangan kembali berubah menjadi Syarikat Islam.
Gaung SI kini sudah jarang terdengar. Di banding organisasi sosial keagamaan lain semisal Nahdatul Ulama (NU) atau Muhammadiyah, SI kalah pamor.
Di banyak daerah yang sempat menjadi basis SI di Indonesia, organisasi itu bahkan mengalami stagnasi kegiatan relatif lama. Tetapi siapa sangka, di Kabupaten Banjarnegara, SI justru masih eksis hingga sekarang. Memasuki wilayah Banjarnegara, sekolah-sekolah berlabel Cokroaminoto mendominasi pinggir jalan raya nasional.
Di kabupaten ini, sekolah di bawah naungan Yayasan Pendidikan Islam Cokroaminoto tumbuh subur dan berjaya hingga sekarang. Ada sekitar 200 sekolah mulai tingkat TK hingga SMA memberikan sumbangsih bagi pendidikan anak-anak di Banjarnegara.
Eksistensi SI di Banjarnegara ini tak pelak menjadi sorotan banyak kalangan. Timbul pertanyaan, bagaimana organisasi tua itu begitu mengakar dan tetap eksis hingga sekarang. Pertanyaan sama bahkan menghantui pikiran Dr Hamdan Zoelva, Ketua Umum Pimpinan Pusat Lajnah Tanfidziyah Syarikat Islam.
“Ternyata Syarikat Islam di Banjarnegara memiliki akar sejarah panjang yang tidak terputus dari generasi ke generasi,”katanya dalam pengantar buku Sejarah Syarikat Islam Banjarnegara karya Tsabit Azinar Ahmad
Zoelva menyebut SI masuk ke Banjarnegara pada tahun 1913 bersamaan masa perkembangan masif organisasi itu di tanah Hindia Belanda setelah konggres pertama di Surabaya
Pertumbuhan SI di Banjarnegara tak lepas dari kiprah tokoh pendiri SI di daerah itu, KH Ichsan, ulama yang pernah bermukim di Mekkah dan berteman dekat dengan KH Ahmad Dahlan, pendiri Muhammadiyah.
Sepeninggal KH Ichsan, estafet perjuangan organisasi itu diteruskan oleh para ulama di antaranya KH Taufiqurrahman dan KH Ahmad Bushairi. Pun banyak tokoh SI Banjarnegara yang menjadi pengurus SI di tingkat nasional.
Bukti nyata eksistensi SI di Banjarnegara bukan hanya terlihat dari perkembangan sekolah berlabel Cokroaminoto, tapi juga gedung kantor yang masih terawat.
Bangunan organisasi SI Banjarnegara pun masih kokoh dengan kepengurusan sampai tingkat kecamatan hingga desa atau kelurahan. Kepengurusan sampai tingkat bawah itupun masih aktif berkegiatan hingga sekarang.
Banjarnegara menjadi basis pengembangan organisasi yang strategis sejak awal kemunculannya. Terbukti, menurut Zoelva, banyak even penting SI yang pernah dilaksanakan di wilayah ini. Antara lain Konggres pertama Syarikat Islam Afdeling Parvinderij (SIAP) yang selanjutnya dikenal sebagai Syarikat Islam Angkatan Pandu pada 1928. Saat itulah pertama kali diperkenalkan istilah Pandu yang kemudian berubah menjadi gerakan Pramuka pada 1960.
Kabupaten ini juga menjadi tuan rumah pelaksanaan Konggres Nasional XX PSII sekaligus konggres terakhir yang dihadiri HOS Cokroaminoto sebelum wafat pada 17 Desember 1934. Konggres yang disahkan Reglemen Umum Umat Islam bahkan masih menjadi pegangan dan landasan perjuangan SI hingga sekarang
Dosen Jurusan Sejarah Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Negeri Semarang Tsabit Azinar Ahmad mengatakan, eksistensi SI di Banjarnegara mengakar kuat. Banjarnegara, menurut dia, dipilih oleh SI sebagai tempat membangun konsolidasi
Tokoh nasional sekaliber Agus Salim dan Tjokroaminoto secara langsung turut mengokohkan eksistensi SI Banjarnegara di masa pergerakan nasional.
“Bahkan pada pemilu 1955, tokoh lokal asal Banjarnegara menduduki posisi sebagai anggota DPR dan Konstituante. Banjarnegara jadi lumbung suara PSII waktu itu,”katanya
Di bidang pendidikan, kiprah SI di Banjarnegara tak kalah membanggakan. Tokoh-tokoh SI menjadi penggerak kelahiran sekolah-sekolah agama modern. Pada tahun 1906, di kota ini bahkan telah berdiri madrasah yang menjadi rujukan masyarakat bukan hanya dari Banjarnegara.
Madrasah ini bahkan disebutnya mampu menarik perhatian KH Ahmad Dahlan, yang kemudian mendirikan Muhammadiyah. Hingga memasuki era kemerdekaan, kata Tsabit, kiprah SI diwujudkan melalui pendirian sekolah Cokroaminoto dari jenjang TK hingga SMA dan majelis taklim
“Selain membangun kualitas masyarakat, pengembangan pendidikan melalui sekolah Cokroaminoto juga sebagai strategi untuk mengukuhkan eksistensi SI hingga saat ini,” katanya. (*)
